Biography

Nikko Patrelakis was born in Athens and studied music at the National Auditorium and Mathematics at the University of Athens.
His first steps in discography started in 1989 when he released the singles ‘In a Lifetime’ and ‘Want to’, on Sony Music. These first singles were simultaneously the first testaments of Greek electronica establishing Νikko as one of the pioneers of the electronic music scene in Greece. His 1991 project GAIA, with the single “Mirage” and guest vocalist soul-house diva P. P. Arnold, received positive critiques and a warm reception from the British music press paving the way to an international career and resulting in a collaboration with Paul Oakenfold.
To his credit are several albums, singles and electronic music compilations released in Greece, UK, Germany, USA and recently Japan.
His first complete album project entitled “Habitat”, was issued in 1999 with his personal label, featuring house, ambient, drum & bass and free-style rhythms. The album was met by critical acclaim from the Greek and international press. The following year marked a huge collaboration with Paul McCartney from the Beatles, with whom he composed the song “Voices”, in support of a fundraising effort for individuals with kinetic difficulties. “Voices” produced by Nikko Patrelakis, was released by Pinnacle records and reached No 14 in the U.Κ. Indie Chart.
His second album, “ELEMENTS” was released in 2001. The Press once again reserved an enthusiastic welcome as with his next music project “TIME”, an album that became a landmark in Nikko Patrelaki’s music career.
In his own manner, Nikko participated in the Athens 2004 Olympic Games by composing three exceptional songs for the accompaniment of the Greek flag and Greek team procession in the opening ceremony and the crowd and athletes stadium entry of the closing ceremony.
In addition, Nikko has written and composed music for four theatrical plays and two films. He composed the soundtrack for the film “Homer” of K. Giannaris, a film that represented Greece in the 2005 “Berlinale” festival, receiving complimentary critiques by the international press.
2006 found Nikko crossing boarders once again, as he remixed the song "breath" for Lenny Kravitz.
Besides music as such, Nikko Patrelakis has created music themes for four TV stations, the Greek IFPI music awards “Arion”, the 2006 Eurovision song contest, ERT (National Television) TV shows and several commercials. On air, five Athens radio stations carry his music themes while he has also spent time as a radio producer and a DJ in large clubs of Athens and abroad.
